How to Escalate a Motor Insurance Claim — ClaimVoice

The ClaimVoice escalation ladder

01 • Get the reason in writing

Identify the insurer's stated reason and relevant policy clause or calculation where appropriate.

02 • Build your evidence file

Keep policy, claim reference, photographs, reports, estimates, invoices, submissions and communication timeline.

03 • Respond specifically

Address each disputed point rather than repeatedly asking for a generic update.

04 • Use the insurer's grievance process

Move to the formal grievance route when ordinary follow-up has not resolved the issue.

05 • Consider external redressal

Depending on facts and eligibility, an external mechanism such as the Insurance Ombudsman or an appropriate consumer/legal remedy may become relevant.

06 • Preserve the outcome

Keep the final response, settlement calculation and proof of payment.

Before escalating, ask:

  • Do I know exactly why the claim was rejected/delayed/reduced?
  • Do I have the relevant policy wording?
  • Have I supplied relevant documents?
  • Can I support my version with evidence?
  • Have I clearly asked what I want reconsidered?
ClaimVoice principle: We explain possible routes without promising an outcome. Whether a claim is payable depends on the policy and facts.
